About Kaş

Kaş is a small coastal town with a big personality, located on one of the most beautiful stretches of the Mediterranean, in the west of Antalya. With its turquoise bays, bougainvillea-lined streets, views of the Greek island of Meis, and its wonderfully relaxed pace, Kaş is one of those places where you quickly begin to feel at home. You can start your day by the sea, spend the afternoon walking among ancient ruins, and end the evening wandering through the colourful streets of the Old Town.

In Kaş, distances are short, days feel long, and plans often change.

A Brief History of Kaş

Modern-day Kaş was built on and around the ancient Lycian city of Antiphellos. That is why history here is not hidden away in a separate archaeological site; it is part of everyday life. The ancient theatre overlooking the sea, the King’s Tomb in Uzun Çarşı, the rock-cut tombs, and the ruins scattered around the town are some of the best examples. Walking through Uzun Çarşı and suddenly coming across a Lycian sarcophagus that is around 2,400 years old feels completely normal in Kaş. This connection between the past and the present is one of the details that makes Kaş different from other coastal towns.

The Rhythm of Kaş

The atmosphere of Kaş changes with the seasons. During winter, the town is quieter and moves at a slower pace. In summer, the streets, beaches, restaurants, and boats become much livelier. Even at its busiest, however, Kaş still feels different from larger and more crowded holiday resorts. Life here simply moves at a more relaxed pace.

Places to Visit in Kaş

Kaş is about much more than the town centre. Within a short walk, drive, or boat ride, you can discover beautiful beaches, quiet bays, ancient cities, and some of the region’s most impressive natural landscapes.

Some of our favourite places to visit in and around Kaş include:

  • Antiphellos Ancient Theatre and the King’s Tomb
